Best Squadron In Devon & Somerset Wing
(Third time
in ten years)
Cadets
from Newton Abbot's popular 1322 Air Training Corps are smiling broadly
after being named the best squadron as voted unanimously by the Wing
Staff Officers of Devon & Somerset Wing ATC.
The Squadron; Newton Abbot including Teignmouth,
scooped the Donald Moate Trophy for being top of the tree in the Wing and they held an open evening to celebrate. They were
presented with the award by Wing Commander Brian Wills-Pope and local
dignitaries went along to congratulate them.
Spokesman Ian Deavin said the evening was a
'great success' with many people attending, along with a large number of
parents and a contingent of cadets from the recently formed Teignmouth
Detached Flight.
The Squadron represented Devon and
Somerset Wing for the Lees Trophy. |

Best Squadron In The South West Region
Cadets and staff of 1322 (Newton Abbot) Squadron have
beaten off stiff competition from other Squadrons across the South
West, to have the honour of representing the South West region in
the national Lees Trophy. The competition identifies the best,
efficient Squadron in the Air
Training Corps. |

A few weeks later
after inspecting the other Squadrons (As selected by
their Wings) Group Captain Remlinger, Regional Commandant for the South West Region,
confirmed 1322 as the South West Region Representatives for the Lees
Trophy. This means that the Squadron will be competing with five
other squadrons from across the UK for the chance to become the best
squadron in the Country. |

Commanding 1322 Squadron, Newton Abbot & Teignmouth said “This was
a huge achievement for everyone involved and it’s a great privilege
to be recognised as one of the top six Squadrons especially when you
consider there are over 900 across the UK.” |

South West at Corps level. |
